The Jungle Kings are top of the log with 16 points from six games.

The side is yet to lose a match, having won five and drawn one game.

They have so far scored the highest number of goals, tied at 14 goals with new Premier League entrants, Green Lovers.

Assistant coach, Maitumelo ‘Junior’ Lotlaamoreng yesterday said that they are not thinking about winning the league at this point in time.

“We cannot say we want to win the league now. Maybe after about 12 games, then we can talk about that if we continue to do well,” he said.  Lotlaamoreng said their target for now is to finish in a better position than they did last season when they finished in position six. It was their first season, having been promoted as Wonder Sporting that year.

This season, The Jungle Kings kicked off their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Jwaneng Galaxy before they drew 0-0 against BR Highlanders. They went onto hammer Motlakase Power Dynamos 4-0 before thrashing Sankoyo Bush Bucks 3-2. Gilport Lions and FC Satmos were not going to be spared as they received 4-1 and 1-0 beating respectively.

“So far so good. If you win games week and week out, the morale of the players obviously goes up. What we are doing now is just a continuation of last season’s performances although we would have loved to have done much better last season,” Lotlaamoreng said.

Former Township Rollers striker, Phenyo Molefe seems to have found a suitable home and is enjoying a scoring form early in the season. He has four goals together with his teammate, Kawashu Makai. Zebras’ defender, Tapiwa Gadibolae is also doing well following his loan move from Rollers.

“We have not signed too many players or any big names this season as you can see. But the few we have registered have given us a boost. Bobby Mathe has not played yet, but his presence is pushing the current goalkeeper (Bokamoso Moeba) to do even better,” he said.

Molefe said the difference between their performance last season to the current one has been that they are free scoring as their goals have been coming from any player who finds himself in a good position.

“These games we score three or four goals in a game unlike last season where we could only get one or two goals,” he added.

Their next clash is with  Gaborone United (GU)next Saturday at the Molepolole Sports Complex.

Meanwhile, Rollers face bottom placed Motlakase tonight at the National Stadium. Motlakase has been struggling since the beginning of the season and have only managed to collect a point from five games and have since roped in Blessing Moyo as the head coach. Rollers on the other hand, have been struggling to rake in more goals despite boasting some of the finest finishers in their squad. The game kicks off at 7pm.
