The league was initially scheduled to start on September 5, 2015, but was postponed to pave way for the Zebras match against Burkina Faso.

In one of the two Saturday matches, Tsabothe defeated Maun Tigers 3-0 in a one-sided away encounter.

Kazungula FC then defeated former Premiership side ECCO City Greens 3-2 at home. The Kasane match happened to be the official launch of the league’s 2015/16 season.

ECCO were favourites going into the match as they have been busy in the transfer window and signed a few seasoned players among them South African Lovers Mofokeng who turned out impressively for FC Satmos last season.

On Sunday, rookies Real Movers proved that they are not in the league to just add numbers after brushing aside seasoned campaigners, Tonota FC 3-2.

Tonota FC have often struggled in the opening matches of the season since their promotion to the First Division more than three years ago.

Returnees, Sua Flamingoes also won away against struggling TASC in Francistown.

Flamingoes handed debuts to few seasoned players who once plied their trade in the Premier League, among them Lepologang Motlogi Police XI and Shono Moatlhodi, who had a stint at Extension Gunners.

Great North Tigers (GNT), who have always endured a bad start to the season in recent years, shocked TAFIC with a 4-3 win in the Francistown derby.

The weekend loss is not what many had expected for TAFIC as the team has also been busy on the transfer market.

Despite the loss, TAFIC had an upper hand and displayed much creativity when going forward, a trait they showed towards the end of last season, when they narrowly missed the promotional play-offs. The team only needs to work on its defence which looks very fragile.
