Sankoyo supporters in a murder, suicide incident

A 29-year-old man who is allegedly the dead woman's boyfriend was found hanging from the rafters of the same house. The man was allegedly wearing a shirt he had worn at the stadium earlier, to support Sankoyo Bush Bucks during the Saturday game where the team lost to Township Rollers.

Maun police station commander Superintendent Peter Gochela confirmed the case, adding that the bodies of the two deceased, who are suspected to have been a couple, were discovered by the late man's cousin. He said both the man and woman were rushed to Letsholathebe II Memorial Hospital were they were confirmed dead.

Gochela said their investigations had revealed that the two were last seen together on Saturday afternoon at the stadium, during the Sankoyo and Township Rollers game. He said although their initial suspicion is that the man killed his girlfriend before hanging himself, there is no evidence to suggest that the two had a misunderstanding, especially as there was no suicide note.

The deceased man is said to be a well-known taxi driver in Maun. Police investigations are still ongoing.
