But the fact of the matter is that Leinaeng was appointed to act as the DPP in May 2015 when the DPP, Leonard Sechele, (May his soul rest in peace), was on sick leave.

 Leinaeng’s acting appointment was extended to June 2015. In July 2015,  Leinaeng was once again appointed to act as Director of Public Prosecutions from the 1st July 2015 to 30th September 2015 or until the post is filled, whichever occurs earlier.

It is therefore not correct that Leinaeng has been appointed to act for six months during which period he is to prove himself, but rather the truth of the matter is that Leinaeng is only acting until the post is filled and the only condition attached to it is that the appointment will cease on the 30th September 2015 or until the post is filled.

The acting appointment therefore can end earlier than the 30th September 2015 should the post be filled before then.

At no point in time has Leinaeng’s acting appointment been understood to be on condition that it will be for six months during which period he is to prove himself. It is therefore, not true and totally misleading to say that Leinaeng has been appointed to act so that he proves himself.
