Orapa United drop Moyo appeal

Moyo was said to have signed a contract with Gaborone United (GU) while he had renewed his deal with Orapa United. The Player Status Committee recently ruled that Moyo was a free agent when he signed for GU.
The Ostriches felt that the committee’s judgment was not aligned to some facts and therefore said they would appeal the decision.
However, Orapa United’s spokesperson, Tebatso Hule said GU have pleaded with them to resolve the matter between the two clubs.
He said GU had asked them to drop the matter, which is what they did.
Hule said their initial decision to appeal was based on principle and they wanted proper procedures to be followed.
“Our appeal was not done with the intention to block the player’s move or to cause any delays but solely because we thought something was not done accordingly. We are the employer and we were only trying to protect our rights. Things like this shouldn’t be happening,” he said.
GU public relations officer, Michael Mafuthe confirmed that Orapa United had withdrawn their appeal but refused to be drawn into discussing the matter.
“Orapa United has indeed withdrawn their intention to appeal but we have not influenced them in any way as the reports indicate. It was their right to appeal and they have chosen not to go ahead with it.
We believe they have done what they did in the interest of the player,” he said. Mafuthe said they are happy that the matter is concluded and the player is back on the field.
“We are happy that this issue is resolved and Moyo is now playing for the team he has always wished to play for. The boy made his first appearance for the team over the weekend after a long wait due to the dragging matter.
“We would love to see more of him and he has offered us more options.
His experience will give us a balance forward. He is a senior player and we are expecting him to gel in with other boys quickly,” he said.
