Mothudi, who owns Client World Car Rental business, told Monitor Business that he got inspired after seeing A friend, who runs a construction company, struggle because he could not rent a car without a credit card.

“For the past four years, I had a friend who ran a construction company. Most of the time he could not give his clients the best service because he could not afford to rent a car as he had no credit card,” he said. Mothudi said this motivated him to start the business in order to help other companies that had to encounter such situations.

He noted that most car rentals loan out vehicles to people who have credit cards, something he said excluded the low and middle income-earning customers. According to Mothudi, when he started his business early this year, he had two cars, but has added four more to his fleet.

Client World Car Rental caters to individuals, who have a driver’s licence and have been driving for two years or more.

“Our target market is mostly youth, corporates and the Small Medium Enterprises (SME).  For one to access our cars, we just need a residential address, driver’s licence and security deposit.  Our day’s rental is between a minimum of P400 and P700,” Mothudi said.

He added that they also cater for cross border trips noting that his cars are fitted with tracking devices and are fully insured.

Client World Car Rental specialises in VW car models as Mothudi said they are reliable and have low fuel consumption.

“The reception has been overwhelming, and I have realised that youth, especially the working class, like the VW model,” he added.

Mothudi intends to open more branches in Kasane and Maun in future.
