Tuku dazzles, Sharon leaves great impression

Performing to a sold out show Mtukudzi, popularly referred to as Tuku, proved that age is nothing but a number.
The 52-year-old Zimbabwean gave a heart-warming performance for the lot that had flocked the venue.
His one-hour 45-minute act, which included hit songs from Todii to Patapata, were testimony as to why he has been labelled Africa’s giant in the genre of jazz. Tuku started his set with some of his latest hits, which received loud cheers from the crowd that moved closer to the stage to witness firsthand Tuku’s captivating presence.
The Mandiro singer had attendants sing from the top of their lungs when he introduced his track Neria.
Sharing the stage as the opening act, former My Star winner, Sharon set the tone for the performances of the night. Sharon, who told Showtime after the show that she will not release what will be her second album anytime soon, but will in December put out two singles, got onto the stage clad in traditional attire.
During her performance one could feel the Setswana essence much to the delight of the crowd.
She rubber-stamped her name in the hearts of many when legendary Banjo Mosele joined her on the stage. She told the crowd that Mosele gave her the break she yearned for in the music industry.
“He is my mentor. I am where I am because of him,” she shouted. At the show, some might have underrated Sharon, who put any doubts about her musical skills to their final rest.
The next Mascom Live Session will be held on November 6, 2015 and will be headlined by South African star, Lira.
