Orange has specifically reserved a  budget of P100,000 to buy the gifts from the winner of this competition. This initiative is a women empowerment initiative aimed at boosting women SMMEs, given the challenges that they face as small businesses operating in the country.

“This year’s competition has been running since July and will be coming to an end on  September 25. We are in search for gifts that are outstanding, suit any corporate environment as well as symbolise Orange values and corporate image. The proposed gifts may be edible, decorative or augment work environment, so women are encouraged to submit their proposals stand a chance of being this year’s winner,” said Boga Chilinde-Masebu, PR and Foundation Manager, Orange.

“The winner gets additional benefits. Her company gets to enjoy free opportunities to exhibit her products at different platforms facilitated by Orange Foundation. So this is a great opportunity for women who are trying to grow their businesses and penetrate the market,” says Chilinde-Masebu.

Since the beginning of the initiative in 2012, over 85 candidates from all over Botswana have participated. These are women involved in different areas such as arts and crafts, fashion design, textiles, bakery, body and beauty, food and beverages, upholstery and linen making.

According to Chilinde-Masebu this year, more women are showing interest in this competition, judging from the big number of enquiries received.
