Mogorosi stun struggling Sankoyo

Mogorosi, who came as a substitute at the start of the second half, out-jumped Bush Bucks’ short defenders to beat goalkeeper Basimanebotlhe Moilwa. After a goalless first half Rollers coach made double change, introducing Mogorosi for Letumile Molebatsi and Galabgwe Moyana who replaced Maano Ditshupo.
After a very slow paced first half, which was played under a searing heat, Mark Harrison brought Mogorosi to inject some pace although the veteran attacker could not produce his magic pace to beat the faster young Sankoyo defenders. But experience counted as Mogorosi rose high to give Mapalastina the three points. The free kick came after a foul on another substitute Edwin Moalosi who came in for Jerome Ramatlhakwana.
Moalosi came in the 67th minute and immediately made impact by winning the free kick that gave Mapalastina the three points. Moalosi proved bad news for Ngurungu as he was fouled by Sankoyo’s Keorapetse Seloiso in the 80th minute at the centre of the pitch leading to the midfielder getting a red card.
The 10-men Ngurungu side were dealt another blow when Thato Monowe who came in as a substitute was also red carded for kicking defender Tshepo Motlhabankwe, although Talk Talk appeared to have also kicked Monowe in retaliation.
In a post-match interview, Harrison admitted that the game was very slow and lacked the expected tempo.
He, however, said he was happy that they took three points on the road unlike in the previous game when they gave away two points.
Harrison said Ngurungu was more determined since they were playing Rollers. He said they came into the game knowing that Ngurungu is strong on the attack and they worked down a plan to close down the attackers knowing that they will get a goal because Ngurungu are not strong defensively. Sankoyo caretaker coach, Gadimang Tiiso attributed the Rollers goal to the short make up of his defenders saying it makes them vulnerable when defending set pieces. He said although they managed to close down Rollers attacks from the wings, they were poor going forward as their marksman Morris Ruzivo was completely marked out of the game.
Meanwhile, Ngurungu reportedly made P 203,000 from the game. A percentage of the earnings will go to the Botswana National Sports Commision coffers. The Maun side has reportedly raked in more than P 500, 000 in their three home games this season against Extension Gunners, Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Township Rollers.
