Gunners, Miscellaneous share spoils

Although both teams started the game at a snail’s pace, Miscellaneous later took control of the game and were the first to continuously ask questions from both wings.

Their best chance came in the 10th minute when Bogosi Mfila gave Pio Paul’s men an almighty scare.

Mfila who was unmarked in the 18-yard box smashed a right foot shot and Gunners goalkeeper, Lame Tladinyane parried it back.  On his second attempt, Mfila failed to pick a spot and instead directed the ball back to Tladinyane.

Gunners took time to get into the game and even when they did have their moments, they failed to take advantage.

Their only best chance of the first half came right before half-time when Miscellaneous rear guard misread a free kick and the ball found Thabiso Mabachi unmarked in the box, but he hurriedly screwed his half-volley away.

For the better part of the half, Miscellaneous with their 4-3-3 formation gave the visitors a torrid time with their left flank, which had Kelepile Terata and Master Masitara proving a handful to Gunners.

From the recess the game came to life, and a minute into the half, Mabachi skillfully peeled away from Terata in the box but his shot went across the goal.

Five minutes later, Amos Godirwang brought down Emmanuel Thakadu just outside the box and were awarded a free kick. Masitara produced a powerful drive from the resulting set piece, but Tladinyane was equal to the task.

Miscellaneous once again dominated possession while the visitors looked vulnerable and could not find their killer touch in the final third.

Jomo Moathaping collected deep and could not even find an attempt on goal. On the 86th minute, Mogomotsi Mokoka wasted a golden opportunity after he went clean through a flat-footed Miscellaneous defence into the box, but wasted a glorious opportunity by shooting wide.

Pio Paul welcomed a draw although he felt his boys were hard done by the fixtures. “We still have a long way to go and picking a point away serves us well. My boys did not really come to the party today, but that is probably because they have not fully recovered from our last game three days ago but it is football. It is fine,” he said.

Miscellaneous coach, Russia Chaba was also happy with a draw.

“The game went accordingly and we did not plan to lose this game. I am happy with my defence because they are showing a lot of improvement. We are absolutely happy with a point,” Chaba said.
