BDP at its wit�s end - Boko

Boko, who was accompanied by the UDC leadership, said his party was readying itself for a take over in the 2019 general elections and now they were putting the right things into place.He was addressing a press conference here on Wednesday.He was worried that over 500,000 people living in Greater Gaborone spend days without water and electricity.
“Under the BDP government, the nation is bedevilled by many crises at once. Water and electricity provision are a challenge,” he said adding that the country has also been hit by critical instances of massive corruption.
“Morupule A thermal power station has chewed billions of Pula albeit it’s a sub-standard power station which is not performing. It had to be redone and I can tell you it’s a monumental failure,” Boko declared worriedly that despite the failure, heads are yet to roll.
He described the BDP government as incompetent and literally unfit to govern as he said it was seemingly bent on experimenting with the lives of the people.
To demonstrate what he called the stubbornness of the ruling BDP, he said after giving preferential treatment to Owen’s Conning Company to supply heavy-duty pipes, which proved to be unsuitable for use in the North South Water Carrier (NSWC) water supply, the pipes were nonetheless commissioned.
“Today, Gaborone and its peripheral areas do not have water partly because of the choice of these unsuitable pipes,” he said noting that the BDP is today confronted by challenges of its own making.
“We want accountability from the government and I can tell you that our people are getting angry with the failures of the government. Now, when the masses explain themselves in song and dance as demonstrated in a recent petition for water/power seeking accountability from the government, they are dismissed as a joke.”
Boko stated that if everything else was in order it is fitting that we could have people making peaceful demonstrations to praise the sitting government.
He further described the BDP government as insensitive for failing to acknowledge their failures when people are losing a lot as business has been suspended due to acute water shortages and power disruptions.
Boko, a constitutional lawyer, was worried about the crisis bedevilling the judiciary noting that the Executive continues to over-stretch its arm unnecessarily and particularly said the recent suspension of the four judges was an unfortunate development in the Judiciary.
He declared that the practical consequences of the suspension of the three judges based at the Lobatse High Court and one in Gaborone mean that there will be no progress in the cases.
He said no one was spared in the BDP onslaught, as even the media is one way or the other victims citing a recent attempt by certain players to prevent the media access to critical information.
“The BDP government is on a free fall and we say with confidence that this government is on its way out and they may have to give up government before end of their term,” Boko said and observed that it was the reason why they were moving around as the UDC leadership.
