Chiefs edge Satmos

The win moved Chiefs to third spot with 10 points while Satmos is dicing with early relegation battle on position 14 with just a single point.
The game, which attracted a large crowd, was entertaining as Satmos refused to be bullied. The game started at a high pace with both teams constructing threatening moves. Goalkeepers, Ogopotse Tshule and Raphael Nthwane had a busy evening.
Katlego Mpoeleng had a chance to put Satmos ahead in the 16th minute, but missed while Tshule thwarted Pontsho Moloi’s free kick in the 21st minute. The game went into the break deadlocked with neither team exploiting the scoring opportunities.
The game maintained its high tempo in the second half with Satmos keen to frustrate the defending champions, as they did not allow them to dominate the game.
The introduction of Dirang Moloi in the 58th minute swayed the tie in favour of Chiefs, but the fearless Cheetahs continued to launch attacks.
Sadiki Takunda and Mogakolodi Balatotse tested Nthwane as they visited his post time and again. Chiefs also introduced Onalethata Tshekiso and Mkhanyesele Siwahla while Satmos’ only change saw Melvin Moyo replace Lesego Moiphemedi.
Moloi converted from a well-taken corner kick by Ontse Ntesa late in the game to give Chiefs the full points.
Chiefs coach, Mike Sithole said the game was not easy as Satmos gave them a hard time. He said they were struggling with combinations because some players were new to the team.
Sithole said Chiefs needed to work hard especially on their fitness level.
Satmos coach, Kenneth Mogae, said his team failed to score from the chances they created. Meanwhile, Chiefs face a daunting challenge when they play a Gaborone United side struggling for form. The match kicks-off at 8pm at the National Stadium tomorrow.
