BCPYL replaces Osupile

The position of secretary general fell vacant after Osupile recently resigned and defected to the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

Before his resignation, Osupile was slapped with a suspension letter by the BCP for allegedly conniving with some BDP leaders to discredit the party, and recruiting BCP members to his new political home.

The BCPYL spokesperson Aldrine Madigele confirmed that Busang had ascended to the position of secretary general. “Busang ascended to maintain continuity as he has been in the office of the YL Secretariat as its second in command.  He is a well renowned BCP activist currently based in Palapye. He volunteered at the BCP head Office for a very long time,” he said.  Madigele also said that the youth league had also co-opted Patrick Gumede Gaebuse to the position of deputy secretary general.

“Gaebuse brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in local politics.  He has served the BCP in different capacities in the Gantsi region. Lately, he contested for the Tsootsha/Kalkfontein ward as the BCP council candidate, in the Gantsi South Constituency, where he performed exceptionally well,” he said.
