Man found dead under flyover

Tatitown police station commander, Superintendent Cyprian Magalila confirmed the incident yesterday.

Members of the public alerted the police about the grisly find last Sunday.

“We took the man to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital where upon arrival he was certified dead,” said Magalila.

He said upon physical examination of the body, there were no visible injuries that could be linked to his death. The police, therefore, are not yet in a position to tell what could have caused his death.

“Investigations in the matter are still ongoing to establish the cause of the man’s death. We are also hopeful that a post-mortem report will be availed soon to determine the cause of death,” said Magalila.

“It was a cold weekend in the city of Francistown and currently we do not know if the man spent the night under the flyover where he was discovered and affected by the cold weather or there was anything linked to his death,” said the police officer.

He said the name of the deceased is still being withheld as they are in the process of notifying members of his family.

Magalila said that it was the second such incident to occur at the same spot as a person was found dead there last year. “We are concerned about these incidents where people’s lives are lost and we plead with members of the public to be cautious at all times,” said Magalila.
