Motlakase blame Changwes departure for poor start

Changwe left in July over a payment dispute and Pule Mogotsi took charge. After four matches, Chouka are bottom with just one point from four games.

Chouka chairperson, Mangisi Segadimo attributed the poor start to Changwe’s departure. He however said everything is going accordingly but luck is not on their side.

“We don’t know what the problem is. We are not lucky. The players are ok (sic), there are no issues and we don’t owe them. I think the issue of losing our head coach might have contributed a lot to our bad start. Our boys need somebody who can assist the coach tactically.”

“It is not like we are undermining him, but the thing is he is also engaged somewhere as a teacher. He does not have enough time for the team, so he needs assistance,” Segadimo said.

Segadimo said they are still looking for a head coach. He said the team did not have pre-season training due to lack of resources, which might have also contributed to the slow start. Some of their new signings arrived late, meaning they will take time to gel, he said. Segadimo said the fitness levels are low due to the few preparatory matches played.

However, Segadimo said they will fight by all means to avoid relegation. Chouka’s next assignment is against Township Rollers and he believes that is where they will turn the corner. After Popa they will be on to another stern test when they face BDF X1.

Chouka’s new signings include two goalkeepers, Keoagile Kgosipula from Gaborone United and Segakolodi Ntima from Nico United and striker Emmanuel Masisi (Notwane), midfielders Onthusitse Mahube (Letlapeng FC) and Thabo Mosielele from Nico United.
