The thudding sounds of the Zebras left an indelible mark on the new Francistown stadium on a day when everything except one, went right. There was abundant flair, a glut of goal scoring opportunities and a water tight defence before a late pitch invasion left a sour taste in the mouth. Burkina Faso’s Stallions were well and truly beaten as an overwhelming sense of belief was reinstated.

Summary

Ngele: Zebras skipper, Joel Mogorosi summed up Ngele’s afternoon when he said the Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder had probably the best game in national colours. He linked well with deep lying midfielders and the strikers, particularly Hendrick Moyo and was ever prepared to drop back to aid in defense

Pitroipa: A player with vast experience having played in Germany and France, Pitroipa saw a lot of the ball, but at times in less harmful areas. He constantly switched positions and looked the likely to rescue a point for the West Africans when he clipped the post in the dying moments of the game.
