Serufho lands BNSC job

Serufho was appointed as the caretaker CEO in 2020 and the appointment was expected to have lasted for six months.
BNSC board chairperson, Marumo Morule told Mmegi Sport the recruitment took longer than anticipated. “We are happy that the recruitment process has been concluded. Initially, 10 people had applied and the final candidate was Serufho,” Morule said.
“After our internal processes, we took our nomination to the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development (MYSC) for approval. We now have to move on.”
Morule said the Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) were cooperative after the CEO was seconded to BNSC. He that added they were glad Serufho accepted the offer as it was a give and take situation. “From the candidates that had applied, any one of them could have made the grade. But we appreciated not only his CV but where he came from with sport,” Morule said. “He started here at BNSC up until BNOC where he actually grew. He was also seconded to Botswana African Youth Games Organising Committee (BAYGOC) as CEO.”
Morule said Serufho was a wholesome candidate since he also served in different portfolios at Commonwealth Games. He noted it was difficult for Serufho to wait with uncertainty before being given the contract. His first assignment is to implement resolutions from a restructuring exercise, which is likely to see jobs shed. “I believe that he could now deliver and move forward. Not saying we could not have held him accountable.” Serufho is a seasoned sport administrator and has been at the helm of BNOC since 2010. But, he has issues to contend with.
The BNSC staff morale is low since the commencement of the restructuring exercise, which has been dragging for a long time. “His first assignment is to close and implement the resolutions of the restructuring process,” Morule said.
