Three Year Old Raped

The state alleges that Bruno Mohamadi, who appeared in court recently, committed the offence at Block 3 location in Francistown.

Though rape was established, no DNA tests were conducted on the discharge that was allegedly found on the child’s private parts to link the accused to the offence.

Principal Magistrate Sijabuliso Siziba made a ruling that the victim was indeed penetrated and as such, Mohamadi was now entitled to defend himself against the allegation.

Mohamadi, who gave sworn evidence said on the day that the victim was allegedly raped, a neighbour came to his place and asked him to temporarily watch over the child promising to come back for her later.   Mohamadi said he agreed and after 10 minutes the child’s maid came to collect her and took the child home, which was right next door.

“To my surprise, after three days police came to my place saying that there was something urgent that they wanted to tell me at the police station.  I agreed and went with them to the police station.   To my surprise I found the child, her mother and maid at the police station.  The police then told me that I had raped the child,” said Mohamadi.

Prosecutor Rodger Bosena from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) said that the child’s mother noticed some discharge on her private parts and when she enquired, the child said the accused inserted his manhood in her private parts.

In response, Mohamadi denied ever having any sexual contact with the child.Judgement in the case will be delivered on October 19.
