IDM Boosts Social Studies Fair

Of the more than P70,000-worth of support, P30,000 will go toward prizes.  Organised under the auspices of the Botswana Social Studies Association (BOSSA) the Social Studies Fair national finalists are drawn from the five regions of SEKGAKWE (southern, Kgatleng, and Kweneng), South, North-West, North-East and Central.

Moiketsi says IDM’s participation was a response to a call by the Ministry of Education to participate in the Adopt-A-School initiative.

In their case, Moiketsi says they chose to adopt Social Studies amongst the secondary subjects for the initiative.

“We are not a social science institution, but our motive is to support schools and motivate other subjects to go the path of BOSSA,” he says.

BOSSA chairman, Moagi Mukokomani says the fair to be held at the Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Education, will run from Saturday to Sunday.  It will see competitors show brilliance in essay writing, quizes, charts and models, written projects, as well as debate sessions.

The Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA) previously supported the annual event for two years.

Medi Publishing Company director, Portia Tshoagong is scheduled to be guest speaker at the event.
