The hosts showed intention of scoring an early goal and took the lead eight minutes into the game through Gaanosi Mashabane. The striker pulled a long range shot from outside the box, which goalkeeper Otsile Mokuduwe failed to deal with.
Ten minutes later, the hosts nearly doubled their lead but Mokoduwe this time managed to thwart them and denied Daniel Mogapi on an one-on-one situation.
Rangers got their first chance of the game when Kemiso Onkaetse outpaced Kenny Ledikwe, but his shot went over the bar.
Kopelo doubled Fighters’ lead by capitalising on a rebound after the goalkeeper had parried away Mogapi’s shot.
The visitors reduced their opponents’ advantage in the 38th minute, when Onkaetse won a tussle for the ball calmly behind advancing Onneile Ditshito. Rangers introduced Eddie Mathys in place of Kago Boitshwarelo.
The former scored moments following his introduction with a header to draw Rangers level. Fighters coach, Mpho Mabogo said lack of match fitness was the reason behind his team failing to grab a win.
“I knew the team was not fit. We have been training for two weeks now and I am not happy with the draw,” he said.
His counterpart, Rangers coach Onalenna Osenne expressed satisfaction with his team’s play.
“We are very happy to secure a draw away from home, we hope the results will motivate us for our next home game,” he said.
