Borolong, Chadibe border dispute rages on

Over the years, the two villages have wallowed in a dispute in which each claims Shongochena-Mpatane ward, located between them.

In May last year, Chadibe escalated the dispute to the Francistown High Court. In the absence of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development as one of the respondents, Justice Kholisani Solo ruled in favour of Kgosi Aaron Nyambe of Chadibe.

Solo ruled that Tlhalogang River formed the boundary between the two villages. He also rule that the rightful name for Shongochena ward is Dikgatlho and it fell under Chadibe.

Last month, the Attorney General applied to Solo to rescind his May 2014 order and he agreed. Observers , however, believe  this is going to  throw the matter back to the pre-May 2014 times.

Chadibe’s Kgosi Nyambe said he was not aware that the high court rescinded its May 2014 decision. Therefore, he will contact the village’s lawyers for the latest information. In Borolong, Kgosi Israel Molema accused some civil servants of meddling in bogosi issues and and hence not delivering government services to residents of Shongochena.
