Brother stabbed, another wounded in drunken brawl

Letlhakane police station commander, Michael Maphephu, said the suspected crimes took place at Gagara cattle post, two kilometres outside Letlhakane.

The dead man and his wounded brother were from Mogorosi, a village near Letlhakane in the Boteti Sub-District.

Maphephu said it appeared that the victims and the suspect were drunk during the early hours of Saturday when the crimes were committed.

“The accused stabbed both victims using a sharp object suspected to be a knife,” he said. “Unfortunately the elder brother aged 29 years was certified dead upon arrival at hospital while the younger brother aged 25 years was treated and discharged as he sustained minor injuries.” Maphephu said after the incident the accused fled the scene but was arrested hours later at his girlfriend’s house.

He urged the public to always alert the police whenever they witness incidents that threaten peace.
