Although his initiative has proven to be a success in his home country, there was a relatively low turnout at the seminar, which was held at the Tlotlo Conference Centre on Sunday.

Leadership 2020 CEO Nicolas Regisford said the seminar was designed for progressive young African thinkers.

“Sunday Circle is designed for progressive young Africans who enjoy being around like-minded people, strategising on their next move in business or personal career growth,” he said.

DJ Sbu’s weekend activities kick-started at the upmarket club, Cigar Lounge in Phakalane on Saturday, where he partied up a storm with local revellers at the Mofaya energy drink launch.

The popular DJ was recently fired by SABC where he was Metro FM DJ, after he promoted his energy drink during the live broadcast of the station awards’ without authorisation.

Before the dust could settle, DJ Sbu was accused of creating and posting a fake cover of the Forbes Magazine with his image. DJ Sbu however denied that he created it.

At the launch, patrons sampled the energy drink upon entry at the club. The energetic DJ Sbu later took to the decks and performed for close to 30 minutes.

In an interview with Showtime DJ Sbu said he was excited about his trip to Botswana.

“I am very excited to be back here. Botswana is like my second home and we have been planning to come here because we have already launched the energy drink in Lesotho, Swaziland and Namibia,” he said.

DJ Sbu noted that he wanted to see more young Africans reaching their full entrepreneurial potential.

“I have always received support from the Botswana market.  I didn’t have to think twice about bringing what we do to Botswana. I believe Batswana, particularly purpose driven entrepreneurs, should come out in large numbers and get engaged.

“It’s important to recognise that we are in the last developing market in the world, we have the youngest population and the African population will outgrow other nations in the coming years.

Entrepreneurs now need to embrace the billionaire mindset and focus on creating wealth,” he said.

Quizzed on the scandals that rocked South African media over the past few months the man, who introduced multi-award winning singer Zahara to the world, candidly insinuated that he does not dwell on hearsay and rumours.

“It is what it is. I will not stand here and tell you whether what you heard is true or not. I have moved on with my life and focusing on growing my brand and inspiring the youth of Africa to stand up and make something of themselves,” he said.

DJ Sbu recently launched a weekly entrepreneurship show on CNBC Africa titled, Kicking Doors.
