Just Gospel holds countrywide auditions

Although the organisers did not readily have the official figures of those who attended, the hall was filled to capacity on Friday and this led to many returning home without having auditioned.  Those who did not audition on Friday had to come back on Saturday to try their luck.

According to Earnest Seakgosing, one of the judges who is also a music producer and owner of Chankieland Muzic and Arts, the auditions attracted a number of people from Francistown as well as the surrounding areas.

“People have been waiting for a show of this kind as evidenced by the high numbers (of those who auditioned).  Some of the contestants came all the way from Rakops, Serowe, Kalakamati and Bobonong to audition.  We are impressed with the reception we have received,” he said.

He added that participants at the auditions displayed great potential.

“We are searching for a unique singer with passion for gospel music and from what I have witnessed we will get that kind of singer,” he said.

Participants were also happy with the auditions.  Chanda Mpaphi, 23, from Nswazwi village said, “For us who have always wanted to sing gospel professionally, the show will give us the platform to do that”.

Mpho Keatlaretse, 37, who is from Makuta village, shared Mpaphi’s views adding,  “I could not audition at My Star because it focuses on urban music only”.  After the countrywide auditions are completed, the judges will select the Top 40 best singers who will go to the final. The winner of the final will walk away with P200,000 and a three-year recording contract.  Additionally, the Top 10 would also collaborate on a song. Next weekend the auditions will be held in Selebi-Phikwe. The organisers have indicated that they will travel to 15 places across the country in search for potential gospel singers.

The show will air on Btv in December after the auditions are complete.
