UB Staff Strut Stuff For Charity

The beauty pageant themed ‘Beauty and Charity’, aims to raise funds for different charities and encourage social change through giving back.

The reigning queen will now embark on charity work and encourage the spirit of voluntarism among the university staff members.

Despite Dira emerging the winner, other contestants were still happy as the pageant was organised for a greater purpose and they all walked away with consolation prizes.

Lametse Letsebe from the Office of Deputy Vice Chancellor Students Affairs department who throughout the competition seemed to be the crowd’s favourite, walked away with ‘Best Dressed’ title while Ester Gababaotse walked away with ‘Most Dressed’ after both made it to the top five.  Matlhale Ramokapane and Thato Mpharitlhe also made it to the top three. The other contestants were Ontlametse Mmereki, Kakale Mapii, Kelemogile Koakae, Sadi Therego, Dorothy Pule, Patricia Pule, Josephine Porogo, Jade Mogwasi and Ruth Sechele.  The showcase from the contestants ranged from sportswear, traditional wear and evening gowns.  Entertainment was provided by local songstress, Amantle and the UB Jazz band.

The event started a bit late and the bad sound almost spoilt the night for the audience, who came in large numbers to support the cause.

However, when the beautiful ladies took to the stage, all was forgotten as whistles, cheers, music and stunning outfits were the order of evening.

The UB staff charity pageant seeks to help different local charity organisations, not only through funds but also engaging their skills as part of the university’s social responsibility programme.
