An all-star happening in the north

South African artists Bonginkosi Dlamini a.k.a Zola, Pitch Black Afro, real name Thulani Ngcobo, Mdududzi Tshabalala aka Mandoza will headline the maiden annual ‘8ta holla’ music festival, which will be held at the Selebi-Phikwe stadium.  This will arguably be the main act in the north.

A full house is expected at the stadium, as this is the first time the three artists will be performing in the copper mining town.

That of local DJs such as Dj Gouviea, Dj Kuchi and Dj Scratch will complement their performance.

Other musicians who will perform at the much-anticipated festival include the Zwamaronga hitmaker MC Maswe, Maghebula and Amantle Ntshole, who gained much fame after featuring at the popular My Star music talent search competition.

Still on Saturday, in Francistown there will also be a family fun day hosted by Ecco City Green at the old stadium.  This will be one of the notable events in the city this weekend. There will also be performances by popular Ikalanga Jazz maestro Ndingo Johwa, Apollo D, Lizibo and Bana Ba Bantogwa.

Johwa will be performing for the second time in the city in two consecutive months.

Hip Hop enthusiasts in the city will be eagerly waiting for Apollo who has rarely performed in the Northern part of the country.

At one of the biggest events planned in the city, Francistown will also tomorrow, host a cultural festival at Nyangabgwe hill.  The festival is organised by Tjilenje Tje Ngwao a traditional music group.

The event, which is a day’s session, will start with a marathon, then aerobics and a culture celebration later on.

Traditional music groups such as Tjilenje Tje Ngwao and Ngwao le Metha are expected to entertain revellers at the event.

Shumba Ratshega also has shows lined up for Sowa Town and Francistown (Donga BDF camp) today and tomorrow respectively. The Leso La Monnamogolo hitmaker will feature other local artists.

Today , Club Lagos will host a launch for RB2 DJ Boza’s. Boza will be launching his latest single and his show will feature DJ King and DR Pheonix.

Also happening today, Cultures Spears will host a festival as part of the group’s Tonkana album promotion tour.  The festival will feature South African songbird Kelly Khumalo whose hit Asine has received massive reception from local music lovers.

Khumalo will be looking to redeem herself after she offered a below par performance in Francistown last month in a development that irked many revellers.

The event will be held at the Selebi-Phikwe hall. MC Maswe and Mantshwabisi will also feature at today’s show.
