The line-up for the show will include some of Botswana’s most celebrated gospel singers; Bafana ‘Phempherethe’ Pheto, Mmereki Marakakgoro, Mathews Matsetse, Suggie Fisher, Kabelo Eric, Tshepo Lesole, and Charity Boitshoko.  The gospel show will also feature Ditsala Moreneng Clap and Tap Choir, United Congregation Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) Mogoditshane Choir, and Turning Point. The brains behind the concept, Kagiso Morebodi, who also owns Call Back Events, explained that the project for starters will concentrate on children from disadvantaged families, who cannot afford medical treatment for their children.  He explained that there are some children who end up with permanent disabilities due to their families not having the financial capacity for medical assistance.

He further explained that he hopes the concert, which he intends to make into an annual event will be able to provide the much-needed financial support for disadvantaged families.

Morebodi who is also a gospel musician, said the event, which has a 100 percent local line-up also seeks to celebrate gospel musicians, and tell a story of how gospel music has significantly contributed to Botswana as a peaceful and religious country. He further explained that the show will not only be held around the time the country gears up for its Independence celebration, it will also be during the month of prayer. He said they have already recorded a theme song for the event, explaining that it is the first time for local gospel artists to record a song together.  He said compact discs of the theme song will be sold at the concert, together with Independence Gospel Show Vol. 1 magazine.

Morebodi also said the event, which will be a spiritual uplifting night of worship and praise, will be the kind of do, where everyone is treated like a VIP, hence the standard charge.  He said they decided to have a variety of gospel genres, which include acapella, contemporary, clap n tap, and choral to cater for everyone’s taste.

He said the foundation also seeks to empower young people and nurture their skills. He said he has already engaged a number of young people as part of the organising committee.

Morebodi promised gospel lovers a showstopper, explaining that they will make sure the show is of a high standard.  He further said they have partnered with one of the respected companies, Showgroup who will provide lighting, stage, sound and technical support during the event.
