Students escape death in road accident

Two were admitted at Orapa hospital while the remaining three were released after observation on the same day.

According to superintendent Michael Maphephu of Letlhakane police, the incident happened at around 9:20pm when one of the students wanted to drop his schoolmates at their different homes.

“It is not yet clear what could have happened but we suspect that the driver could have lost control of the car and it overturned.

One of the students sustained injuries on his neck, while another one has a cut on his scalp,” Maphephu said.

He said an 18-year-old student was driving his parents’ vehicle.

Meanwhile, the Letlhakane police are looking for a man who attempted to rape a 52-year-old woman at Paipai cattle post.

It is alleged that the suspect who is still on the run saw the woman at her home and claimed that he was looking for lost cattle.

“The suspect is alleged to have tried to strangle the woman but she overpowered him.

He immediately ran away leaving behind a horse he came riding on,” he said.

The woman sustained injuries on her neck, police said.
