Mobi Dixon, real name Mabi Nthuli, was performing in the country for the first time. He told Showtime that he has spotted Samantha Mogwe as his potential local collaboration. He said Mogwe is one of the local artists he wishes to feature in his soon to be released album.

“The reception here is great, I never knew Botswana had so much love; its really amazing, the feeling is unexplainable,” he said.

The men and women who flocked the event seemingly paid less attention until the man of the moment went on stage, with his one-hour set keeping attendees on the dance floor for the rest of his performance. Although his hit song, City Rains seemed to be the most popular, the women who attended the event, rocking heels, enjoyed his whole performance, which was evidenced by the packed dance floor.

“It’s always a challenge to perform to an unfamiliar crowd, you really don’t know what to do until you are on the decks,” Mobi Dixon said. The 30-year-old DJ, made a name for himself when he was chosen as one of the up-and-coming musician to benefit from popular DJ Oskido’s I Believe initiative. The east London born DJ also said the initiative has since helped him to run his own recording label, Dance Is Kulcha Records, which he started in 2008. Cigar Lounge, which has hosted a couple of events, will this coming week also host the man behind MoFaya, Dj Sbu. He will be in the country for the whole week hosting youth seminars. After the seminars, DJ Sbu will officially also launch his energy drink at the Cigar Lounge on Saturday.
