Space travel opens a portal of doom

Fantastic 4 is marred in controversy that even overshadows the supervillian in the movie. Word reaching yours truly suggests that director Josh Trank got fired halfway through the production of this masterpiece, which caused major re-shoots, as he had envisioned his film to be two hours and 20 minutes long.  Like most jam-packed films, studio 20th Century Fox opted fort the time to be reduced to 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Fantastic 4 centres on four young outsiders who discover and teleport to an alternate dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a friend turned enemy.

It is focused on the lives of Miles Teller who plays Elastiboy (Reed Richards) as well as The Rock or muscle of the Fantastic 4 (Ben Grimm) plays Jamie Bell.

These two actors have appeared in some of the box office films such as Insurgent and King Kong respectively.

Action

Fantastic 4 lacks that appealing factor as almost all the cast members are relatively new faces in the industry, there isn’t much star power in this one. Other than that the action is not sufficient enough for a movie of this magnitude.

The only time we experience action is when Doctor Doom enters this dimension of earth. The movie barely maintains the action spark.

According to IMDB this is because the production house 20th Fox altered Josh Trank’s storyline much to an extent that the final product we see at cinemas had to discard most of its action sequences.  The other noticeable aspect of this sequel is that it is not that much engaging, because of its setting.

The movie is set in a highly restricted military base, and a state of the art science lab.

Previous editions of Fantastic 4 were more fun than this one as they featured civilisation. The directors were innovative enough to fuse the superheroes and supervillains with normal life in cities, which became a catalyst.  The one positive aspect is that the screenwriter had crafted an indestructible villain. It was so cool to see Doctor Doom’s capabilities, which include his scary malicious glowing form. This hardcore moment when he disposes of a government agent by controlling his blood temperature to the extent of him blowing up was phenomenal.

It would have turned out beautifully had the creators implemented most of such extraordinary scenes, featuring the full use of supernatural powers. Fantastic 4 taps into themes of faith, power, and friendship amongst others.

Reception

The turnout for this movie was huge. Regardless of its mediocre thrill Fantastic 4, stormed to number two last week when it premiered with opening sales figures of $25 million at the box office. With two full weeks in circuit it sits on a staggering worldwide revenue of $103 million. Fantastic 4 is also loosing steam in the charts.

New movies leading at the

 box office this week are:

1.Straight Outta Compton

2.Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation

3.The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

4.Fantastic Four

5.The Gift

Without a doubt this has to be the worst Marvel release.  Having watched Ant-Man this one does not even come close. It deserves a four out of 10.
