Chadibe cries foul over village boundary

The villagers accuse their neighbours of deliberately encroaching onto their territory. In May 16, 2014 Justice Kholisani Solo ordered that the disputed portion of land between Borolong and Chadibe Village fall under the latter.
Solo ordered that the common boundary between Chadibe and Borolong villages be Tlhalogang River. Shongochena ward’s rightful name is Dikgatho ward and falls under Chadibe not Borolong village.
On Tuesday, the village elders held a kgotla meeting in efforts to address their concerns with the boundary topping the list.
The elders resolved to intensify their boundary campaign and raised an accusing finger at Borolong, Mathangwane and Natale villages for deliberately encroaching onto their land.
“The time is now for us as senior citizens of Chadibe to resolve the boundary issue because in our absence our children are likely to lose the disputed land without proper knowledge of our village history,” said Raditsebe Raditsebe, headman of George Masomo ward in Chadibe.
He said that there are some people residing in their village, who are not sure about the village they fall under.
The senior citizen further suggested that they should call for the intervention of Tonota Subordinate Tribal Authority, Ramosinyi Radipitse or the Bangwato Tribal Authority, Kgosi Serogola Seretse to resolve the boundary issue once and for all.
Raditsebe went on to accuse the Natale village leadership of cutting down a Motopi tree that used to separate their lands.
Petros Chisanga said that it is time they addressed the issue without fear and claim their land.
He said that the court has ruled in their favour therefore it is time they submit the court order to Tonota Sub-District Council as well as other government departments together with the Borolong village leadership so that they can be aware of the ruling and stop interfering in their affairs.
“Council should provide us with a board to illustrate that immediately after crossing Tlhalogang River the land belongs to Chadibe village,” said Chisanga.
Tshepiso Nyambe a resident of Dikgatho ward advised elders to consider designing permanent markings on the ground to guide and illustrate their village boundary.
In the end, the elders resolved that there should be a Kgotla meeting next week Tuesday to elect the committee that will address the boundary issue as soon as possible.
Giving thanks at the meeting, Chadibe councillor, Godfrey Legau said that he was happy the issue of the village boundary would be addressed, saying the dispute delays development.
