Rotary Club donates toiletry to Mmadinare Snr

School head Sechaba Oabile could not hide his gratitude during the hand over ceremony on Tuesday saying the toiletry is going to help the less privileged students who cannot afford it.

He said that the school admits students from different places and some come from disadvantaged families hence the need for  stakeholders and the community at large to join hands and help. 

“We need support from different stakeholders and the community at large as a school so that we can achieve our intended goal of educating the nation,” he said.

He said the donation would change the lives of the students who have been suffering from lack of toiletry.

He said that such assistance from stakeholders would also help the students to perform better in their studies.

Senior Guidance and Counselling teacher Dinah Tshambane said that the students are seriously affected by lack of toiletry. She said that there have been many incidents where students approached her requesting for assistance. 

“There is a serious challenge and lack of toiletry for our students. Sometimes I even take toiletry from home to assist some of them where I can manage,” she said.  She also said that there has been a significant reduction of cases of students stealing from others ever since companies came forward to assist them.

“Before stakeholders and Guidance and Counselling department took action to assist students there was a high number of students who stole toiletry from others but since we came up with this initiative there has been a significant reduction of such cases,” she said.

Selebi-Phikwe Rotary Club representative Sarah Hughes said that their role as the club is to help those that are disadvantaged.

She said that the Rotary Club has been involved in a number of projects that aims to giving back to the nation. Hughes also stated that their intention is to help the school every year.

“We are going to include Mmadinare Senior in our charity projects. It is not easy to secure funds but we will help the school,” she assured the school management.
