This is the second instalment of the fashion show, which started last year in August.  This year’s Fashion X will feature designs by Botho Chalebgwa’s Botocy, Gilded Sands by Aobakwe Molosiwa, and five upcoming fashion designers, Thato Mminatau, Lorato Barwabatsile, Oteng Lepere, Abigail Sehunelo and Obonetse Dibeela.  They are expected to showcase 12 collections.

“Given that Fashion X takes place in August, which is the gateway to spring/summer, the theme is ‘A Symphony of Colour’,” the coordinator of the fashion show, Karabo Sampson said.

Some of the designers such as Molosiwa have showcased their designs at high profile platforms such as Harare International Festival of the Arts HIFA in Zimbabwe and Swahili Fashion Week in Tanzania. Designers are expected to showcase creative designs with unique styles and colours.

Sampson stated that this time around stylish fashion duo Tsholo Dikobe and Gaone Mothibi of the GaTsh Fros fashion empire will be working as the stylists of the 12 collections.

Fairground Holdings and Inner Aura have organised the fashion show, and it will be part of the Consumer Fair.

“Our aim is to give designers an opportunity to showcase their creations to the large and diverse crowd that visits the Consumer Fair.  We are gradually building Fashion X into a fraternity of people who believe in the brand and who believe that in order for us to move forward we must do it together,” Sampson said. Fashion X is also helping develop different avenues in fashion as they have engaged with fashion bloggers who will blog about the fashion show. Said Sampson: “Blogging is a fast growing trend that a lot of young Batswana seem to be getting into.  We have invited a few popular bloggers to be at the show some of whom will be blogging live”.
