Man kills lover, commits suicide

According to the police, a friend to the boyfriend apparently discovered the woman’s body, which had multiple stab wounds, after communicating with the man through mobile communication, where (deceased) communicated plans to kill his lover.

The friend in turn contacted the police who then rushed to the scene and launched a manhunt for the man who they found dead.

Speaking to Mmegi following the grisly incident, Assistant Superintendent Sone Masalila strongly condemned cohabitation.

He said that couples should address their differences while living in separate houses, and also avoid physical confrontations. 

He added that this is the fourth passion murder suicide to take place in the village this year, and all the cases involved cohabiting couples.

Masalila said both corpses are lying in the mortuary waiting for the post mortem while investigations continue. 

He added that the next of kin of the two deceased, who both hailed from Lecheng village, have been duly notified of the deaths.

The woman’s parents visited Selebi-Phikwe Government Hospital mortuary on Monday morning to confirm their child’s identity.
