After 26 goals were scored on the opening weekend, a further 24 were plundered on day two of action as the tally raced to 50.

New boys, Jwaneng Galaxy were the biggest scorers after a 5-2 pummelling of fellow rookies, Green Lovers. But focus was firmly on the leading trio of Rollers, Chiefs and Gunners who eased to their second consecutive victories.

Rollers faced a litmus test away in Selebi-Phikwe against Nico United but veteran striker; Jerome Ramatlhakwana eased the former champions’ nerves with his second goal of the campaign. The hosts missed a penalty before a bumper crowd.

Chiefs powered to a 3-0 win over Motlakase Power Dynamos on Sunday to join Rollers at the top with six points.

The two traditional giants are expected to have another fierce tussle for the title, which they have monopolised for the past six seasons. Gunners are the other side with maximum points from two matches after promising close season business.

South Africans, Tshegofatso Chimuku and Mogomotsi Mokoka, are what the Peleng Boys’ doctor ordered as they drive the sleeping giants’ revival. Mokoka was on target as Pio Paul’s charges sent an early statement of intent with a 2-0 win over former derby rivals, Gilport Lions.

Lions, formerly BMC, are finding life tough in the Premiership after opening their campaign with a similar 2-0 loss to Gaborone United (GU). GU lost early ground on the leading trio after they were held to a 1-1 draw against Satmos on Saturday.

Sankoyo Bush Bucks’ loss of key players in the off-season has begun to have a telling effect after the Maun-based side slumped to a 4-3 loss to Miscellaneous.

Madinda Ndlovu has a lot to do if Orapa United is to replicate last season’s form, which saw them finish second.

The Ostriches were dismissed 2-0 by BDF XI on Saturday.

The army side was recovering from a 4-1 mauling at the hands of Rollers last week. BR Highlanders and Police XI produced the season’s first goalless draw.
