After successfully applying to the Land Tribunal to have Masitara remove all carports and chains outside his yard, the Tlokweng Land Board still refused the former MP permission to add the paving.

Communication between the two parties leaked to The Monitor indicates that Masitara applied for permission to do the paving after informing the Land Board in writing that he complied with their orders.  The Land Tribunal had ordered Masitara to remove the carports, shades, and the chains he had erected just outside the yard.

However, the Land Board would not let Masitara have it easy.

They also wanted him to submit an expert report showing that he has removed all the materials, to which Masitara argued would cost him at least P10,000.

He said that a Land Board inspector could instead walk from across their office, which is not far from Masitara’s own home office to compile the report they want.

“Instead of the council  focusing on improving efficiencies of its processes we are expending energy and time on useless procedures, pettiness and jealousy, which will bear no fruit at the end.  It is a waste of tax-payers’ monies,” he said.

“This is pure harassment and pettiness from the Tlokweng Sub District Council.”

He said: “If our explanation is not acceptable to you, we may have to approach the Land Tribunal for intervention or even the High Court”.
