He eventually garnered 6152 votes, followed by Eric Molale of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP who was voted by 4372 votes and Comfort Maruping of the Botswana Congress Party (BCP).
Lotlamoreng retained the constituency in a hard fought battle, following the UDC’s James Mathokgwane quitting seven months into the job for a high paying job at SPEDU.At exactly 12 midnight, Monday, almost 48 hours since the polls had started, Lotlamoreng took the seat with 1553 of the ballots still to be counted. He had comfortably raced over the line, collecting 5376, while his main rival Molale was trailing behind with 3808 votes and Maruping tagging way behind with a paltry 308 votes. While the counting was going on, thousands of UDC supporters who had been waiting at the counting centre at Goodhope Secondary since Saturday broke into song and dance as their chief and now MP entered the hall with the party president, Duma Boko.
He was way ahead, having already secured over 51% of the votes and it became obvious that opponents were out of the picture.
Lotlamoreng had led from the beginning of the count on Sunday afternoon and continued to stretch the margin between himself and his real contender, Molale, who is the minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration.
While many had speculated that the Barolong would punish the UDC for Mathokgwane dumping the constituency, the opposite seemed to have been the case. When the Barolong Kgosi took leave from his bogosi to announce that he was standing as an MP under the UDC ticket, his people did not seem to mind at all.
