Jehovahs witnesses welcomes all to imitate Jesus convention

The ‘Imitate Jesus’ convention will examine Jesus’ life, as outlined in the bible, and emphasise how all — regardless of their background, lifestyle, or religion — can benefit in practical ways from his example and teachings.  A highlight of the programme will be the keynote address on Friday morning, entitled ‘Concealed in Him Are All the Treasures of Wisdom’,” convention spokesman, Titus Mbuya states.

Starting this weekend and continuing for the next three weeks, Jehovah’s Witnesses will be extending personal invitations to everyone from all areas of Botswana to attend the convention.

“Locally, all of the area’s 49 congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses will help distribute printed invitations to the convention,” Mbuya said.

The three day multi-language event is expected to attract about 5,500 people.

The convention will be held simultaneously in Setswana, English and Sign Language to ensure that all benefit by hearing the programme in the language of their heart.

Worldwide, there are over 8,000,000 Witnesses in more than 115,000 congregations.

Jehovah’s Witnesses are best known for their door-to-door evangelical work; witnessing from house-to-house, offering bible literature, recruiting and converting people to the truth.

They base their beliefs only on the text of the bible. They believe that the bible is the Word of God. Jehovah’s Witnesses publish bible-based magazines, The Watchtower and Awake!, which are available for download in over 200 languages, including sign language.

The Watchtower shows the significance of world events in the light of bible prophecies.  It comforts people with the good news of God’s Kingdom and promotes faith in Jesus Christ. Awake! offers teachings on how to cope with today’s problems and builds confidence in the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world.

The convention is open to all who wish to attend.
