Pula Medical Aid Fund Unveils P2 Million Pula Travel Insurance

These introductions are part of the Fund’s Strategic commitment of continuously fullfliing the members needs and keeping up with industry trends.The announcement of the Executive Benefit Option means that the Fund now boosts of three (3) benefit options that existing and potential members can choose from.

The executive benefit option is tailored to provide absolute peace of mind and convenience to all PULA members through comprehensive medical and other associated benefits. The option provides P2 000, 000 (P 2 million) worth of cover for a family for a whole year. It adds on to the already existing Deluxe Benefit Option which offers a comprehensive cover of P 800 000 in benefits per family per year and the Standard Benefit Option which offers a total of P40 000 in benefits every year.

According to PULA Medical Aid’s Sales and Marketing Manager Scelo Hlope the Executive Benefit Option cover is  now split into two parts;  namely a P1 300 000 for annual Basic Limit, providing cover for in-patient and Out-patient services, Maternity benefits, Dental services, Acute Medicines, Optical benefits, Chronic benefit, HIV Benefit, Psychiatric medication, Paramedic services, Alcoholism and drug addiction, Prosthesis

The other part is a P 700 000 Dread Disease Cover for treatment, hospitalisation for a dread condition and maintenance treatment for the diseases that include cancer, heart attack, coronary heart disease, kidney failure, organ transplant, paraplegia, blindness, multiple sclerosis, stroke and road traffic accidents.

PULA has also announced a new P 2 million Pula International Travel Insurance for its members on the Executive and De-luxe Benefit Options. The product is the single largest group of International Travel Insured persons in Botswana. The offering is administered and underwritten by Botswana Insurance Company (BIC). The cover is limited to 45 day stay outside of Botswana per entry and covers the entire family up to six (6) members, children below the age of 19 years.

 The Sales and Marketing Manager  explains that when a member and their family are travelling outside the boarders of Botswana any unforeseen medical events will be covered through the product. “The insurance covers the insured in two main categories; costs associated with medical expenses and trip cancellations , lost luggage, flight accident and other losses”, explains Hlope.

“Sometimes during travelling, costs associated with unexpected events can be significant, which poses an increased risk to travellers, this international travel insurance attempts to reduce these risks. For example, insurance might cover the higher-than-normal medical expenses in a foreign country, or pay for medical evacuation when necessary,” he explained.
