Moeti said they remain hopeful of securing sponsorship as they are in talks with some local companies.

“Talk is just talk. I do not want to count chickens before they hatch, but we are hopeful that before the start of the league, we would have secured a sponsor.

“We are not looking for a lot of money as we only need P400,000 and if a company is willing to pay above that, they will be most welcome,” he said.

He, however, said they are encountering problems in their quest to secure a sponsorship.

“There are fewer companies in the country who are willing to invest in football. We (both men and women football teams) crowd on the same companies and that means as women, we have very slim chances of getting a sponsor,” said.

He, however, said his committee is ready for the start of the 2015/2016 season despite the sponsorship issue.

“We have engaged all our stakeholders including the Botswana Football Association (BFA) and the regional committees.

“The fixtures are out and will be issued to clubs very soon. Everything is in place for the start of the league.

“The reason we decided to start in September is that we wanted to better prepared,” Moeti said. Township Rollers, who went unbeaten throughout the campaign, won the league last season with 62 points.

Gaborone United and FC Legend will play in the elite league this season, while Mexican Girls and Vicomates FC were relegated to the First Division South.

Newly registered teams, Oodi United, Wonder Girls and Super Falcons will play their first competitive games in the FDS this coming season.
