C-Ru drops single

Leburu said the single, is about the growing music industry in Botswana.

“The title Commerce is for the media to recognise and to support the music industry as a profession in our society,” he said.

He elaborated that the single features hip hop/motswako artists, Touch and Pytho.

C-Ru revealed that he released the single as a pre-launch to his upcoming album titled Grand Jury.

He explained that the 16-track album features Apollo, Euri, Touch and Pytho.

He said the album will be launched in November, adding that the event will start in the morning to cater for the whole family.

C-Ru also said they will launch a website on the same day.

He said that like any other business, the music industry comes with its own challenges.

“Some of the promoters disappear with our money, which sometimes delays our productivity,” C-Ru said.

He said fast-growing technology also poses a challenge because fans prefer freely downloaded music using iTunes and other applications instead of buying.

He expressed his gratitude to the Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU) as they help artists on issues of piracy and other challenges.

He said that even though artists face difficulties they are driven by the love and passion they have for their talent.

C-Ru revealed that his biggest achievement was when his other single Thupa tsa Mollo penetrated the local and international markets.  The song was played in Zambia and Namibia and enjoyed raving reviews on YouTube and other platforms.

He urged music promoters to appreciate and value local artists.
