Orapa United insists Moyo is their player

The matter has been referred to the Players’ Status Committee.
Moyo is said to have signed a contract with the GU despite extending his contract with Orapa United in June.
Orapa United spokesperson, Tebatso Hule told Mmegi Sport that their club was aware of the reports that Moyo had signed with GU.
“We cannot dispute anything, but Moyo is our player and he is currently training with us,” he said.
Hule indicated that Orapa United had long renewed Moyo’s contract before it expired.
“To the best of our knowledge, we have a contract with Moyo and we have the intention to keep him,” Hule said.
He said his club has the evidence to back up its case.
He said if GU wanted to sign Moyo, they should have followed proper procedures. He said Orapa United had signed Chikomo who was released by GU.
“It must be clear. We didn’t swap any players. Chikomo and Moyo’s cases are unrelated,” he said.
GU chairman, Rapula Okaile refused to comment, saying the Players’ Status Committee was handling the matter.
“We respect the law. We will wait for the verdict therefore we cannot say anything at the moment,” he said. Okaile said Orapa United took the matter to the Players’ Status Committee.
GU unveiled Moyo as their player last week, but indicated that the team would not use him until the matter is resolved.
Moyo was not at the press conference where other players were unveiled, as his case , together with that of another new signing Tshepo Maikano, is before the Players’ Status Committee.
An insider at Orapa United claimed Moyo was forced to renew the contract with the club because he had an accumulated debt of P18,000 and Orapa United had to help pay for him.
The source said Orapa United would have to reimburse GU as the club had paid Moyo after he had signed with them.
