Reharko Polka Group, which will be led by chief choreographer, Regina Koata will share the stage with Makwakwa Traditional Troupe.
Also joining them are Hani Polka Group from Kanye, three-time winners in the annual President’s Day competitions Gareng Ga Dithota Polka Group based in Khawa, and Speelnog Polka Group from Bokspits.
“Reharko Polka Group are the first group in Botswana to record and release a polka CD and we are the only group to release a polka DVD in the country.
The DVD was shot on location in the villages of Kokotsha, Werda, Tsabong, Middlepits, Khuis, Vaalhoek, Bokspits, and Struizendam, as well as along the magnificent Molopo River.
Members of the group originate from these villages, but they are based in Gaborone,” the group’s brand manager, Harry Koata, said.
The DVD launch is a follow-up to the group’s debut album Die Antwood (The Answer), which was released in 2014.
The nine-track album led to the group winning The Best Folklore/Polka Album of the Year during the 2014 BOMU Awards.
