Shell Gaborone Motor Show Showcases trendiest Wheels

 

The 2015 Shell Gaborone Motor Show as powered by Shell V-Power and Shell Helix was a big opportunity for the local car industry to showcase its latest products and technologies all at once.

Officially opening the motor show on Friday, the Minister Of Transport and Communications, Tshenolo Mabeo described the show as an important event in Botswana`s automotive sector. “The contribution of the Motor Industry and petroleum sector cannot be over stated, therefore the motor show together with its complementary and associated businesses forms an integral part of the country’s economic space,” he said.

Mabeo added that automakers have long relied on motor shows as a critical marketing tool in the fast paced world of technological innovations. He said the show affords automotive brands the ideal space to influence brand perception by exhibiting both current and future models. On Saturday, the public was now given a chance to have glimpse at some of their favourite and dream cars. One of the displayed cars on the day was the all-new Volvo XC 90 amongst others. Having been launched in Botswana recently, XC 90 had everyone at its side. A luxury car by nature, XC 90 with a powerful T8 twin Engine AWD had all the car fanatics excited.

There were plenty of cars to go around and among the new cars was the latest Subaru legacy. Built with a symmetrical all-wheel drive at its core, the Subaru legacy was a perfect sight to gaze for the consumers.

It was not only a chance to gaze at the beautiful cars but it was also an opportunity for collectors. Among the expensive super cars was a Nissan GTR designed with the state of the art technology.

The Land Rover team had among others, the 2015 Discovery which has an adaptive cruise control with forward alert system that uses radar to scan the road ahead ten times a second.

Isuzu had a special edition of the all-new Isuzu KB Serengeti that boasted of an impressive 3 500kg towing capacity. For the Renault team, everyone was talking about the all-new super fast Renault sport that has the embodiment of sporty sophistication.

Besides the most talked about Volkswagen’s GTI Golf 7, there was the all-new Golf Cabriolet with a sleek and dynamic look. Mitsubisi brought their latest ASX that has a hill start assist system and a rear view camera.

For the BMW lovers, all eyes were on  the new BMW M4 Convertible. With a top speed of 250km/h and acceleration of 0-4.1s, the M Twin Power technology makes it one of the fastest cars around. Mazda was also there to display their new Mazda 6 with a SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY that enhances fuel economy with 6-speeds. To thrill the consumers even more, the Ford team had their latest Fusion and Focus and the two were nothing of the ordinary.

 made the show even more appealing for some people who never see the fancy cars on a daily basis was the presence of the Ferrari and Pantera. To complement the sport cars on the day and create a formula one experience was the presence of the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT S.
