Top boxers square up

One of the organisers, Tebogo Ramocha said 26 boxers from five clubs - SSKB, Glen Valley, Thebephatshwa, Selebi-Phikwe Eastern Military Garrison (EMG) and Francistown Boxing Club, have registered for this year’s competition.

“The draw will be conducted during the week and on Thursday morning we will know who will be fighting who,” he said yesterday.

The competition has attracted the crème de la crème of local boxers that include former Commonwealth Youth Games bronze medalist Lentswe Zwinila.

Best of the Best champion and 2012 Africa Open bronze medalist Keoagile Rantutu add to the stellar list, as would be middleweight national champion and 2012 silver medalist Zibane Chikanda.

There will also be the three times national champion Alphious Farmer and Ookeditse Bobeilwe who is the 2013 national champion and Best of the Best silver medalist.

Exiting bouts are expected in the 69 kg section, where Rantutu, Zwinila and Bobeilwe are in the thick of things.

The competition, held under the BDF’s Directorate of Sports Administration, will be used to prepare boxers for the upcoming Council International du Sports Militaire (CISM) Games to be held in South Korea in October.
