Some of the executives at the stakeholder engagement briefing appreciated efforts by the corporation towards improving service delivery by building a high performance culture.
They urged BTCL, as the foremost provider of telecommunications services in Botswana, to continue innovating - especially in this data revolution era - by continuing to invest in new technologies for the benefit of local business and the economy.
BTCL Managing Director, Paul Taylor, had earlier briefed company executives and Botswana’s top most thought leaders attending on the BTCL transformation journey. He said the BTCL strategy is premised among others on offering Fixed and Mobile, and Converged Products and Services, moving the wholesale business to higher value managed services, building a high performance and customer-centric culture, innovation, building strategic partnerships and overall supporting National ICT initiatives.
Chief Executive Officers, General Managers and Managing Directors of both the private sector and parastatals were updated on the BTCL organisational structure, BTCL roadmap, the non-equity strategic partnership with Vodafone, roll out of next generation networks, separation of assets and the impending privatisation.
Taylor assured them that BTCL will continue to implement service delivery improvement initiatives and seek opportunities to enhance the commercial competitiveness of the company.
Bearing in mind that most of them rely on BTCL services to run their businesses, he said the company will continue to review tariffs whenever possible, as ICT is a proven socio-economic enabler.
BTCL is a leading ICT services provider in Botswana. It has a telecommunications infrastructure that is one of the most modern in Africa, with a network composed of an all-digital microwave, fibre optic systems and digital exchanges.
beMOBILE, the mobile arm of BTCL, was established in 2008. It has the widest network coverage in Botswana reaching over 90 percent of the population.
