The Kabelano Trust said the review meeting would be held tomorrow. “We will have all our stakeholders, and after the meeting then we will issue a report on this year’s tournament,” Kabelano Trust spokesperson Lesego Pule said.

During the week, some of the stakeholders expressed disappointment with this year’s proceedings.

Some fans felt the P20 they were forced to pay for leaving the stadium between matches was a daylight robbery.  This was in addition to the ticket prices, with the lowest selling for P100.  Others suggested the P20 should have been included in the ticket price at a subsidised rate.

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, Tebogo Sebego expressed disappointment with the security after fans invaded the pitch at the end of the final between Township Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs.

Sebego feared for the safety of the players and officials.

On the other hand, the president of Sports Writers Association of Botswana (SWABO), Leatile Mmutle decried the treatment of journalists at the event.

Journalists were forced to move away from the media centre, resulting in them being scattered all over the place, hindering them to do their job properly.  Mmutle said they had not been invited to the review meeting.  South African music group, Mafikizolo who headlined the day’s entertainment are said to have pocketed around P150, 000.

This raised eyebrows, as the purpose of the event is to raise money for charity and the main attraction on the day was football.

The meeting is expected to address issues raised on the day and map a way forward to prevent a future recurrence at the tournament, which is in its 20th year.
