Dr Kim�s tourney attracts 60 golfers

The tournament is held as a way of remembering one of the first members of the Francistown Golf club, Dr Chong Kim who came to Botswana in 1969 and worked as a doctor in Francistown. The late Dr. Kim’s family sponsors the tournament in memory of their late father. The tournament is sanctioned by the Botswana Golf Union.
Phikwe Golf Club chairperson, Harold Van Zyl said preparations for the tournament are at an advanced stage. He said more than 60 golfers countrywide are expected to take part in the tournament.
“The preparations are advanced. We are expecting between 60 to 70 golfers to participate,” he said. He also said that the prize money for this year is going to be more than P100,000.
Van Zyl said the tournament will be spiced by Soprano Bikers from South Africa as well as Steam Jazz band featuring Jazz DJ SK and DJ Clarence. Shanti Lo will be the guest of honour. He said they will donate to charity with the needy in neighbouring Mmadinare expected to benefit.
“There is going to be a hand over of hampers to the needy in Mmadinare,” he said.
