Dikgosi rally behind Lotlamoreng

Sebele is due to launch the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) candidate on Saturday in Pitsane, while the rival Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) will also hold a high profile launch of its own candidate, Eric Molale, elsewhere in the village on Sunday.

Lotlamoreng will also receive support from Kgosi Jeff Montshiwa, of the Barolong-in-Mafikeng as well as high profile members of the ruling African National Congress in the North West province of South Africa.

The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) will launch its candidate, Comfort Maruping, on August 8, ahead of the August 15 by-election.

Yesterday, Sebele confirmed his support for Lotlamoreng. “I am going there as a chief for Bakwena and as a Botswana National Front (BNF) member.

I long joined BNF in 1979 and I am going to speak on issues relevant to Kgosi’s launch and nothing else,” Sebele said, confirming his invitation to the launch.

UDC and BNF president Duma Boko and his Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) bedfellow, Ndaba Gaolathe are also billed as speakers at Lotlamoreng launch.

For its part, BDP chairperson, vice president Mokgweetsi Masisi will launch Molale on Sunday.

The party’s secretary general, Botsalo Ntuane said cabinet ministers would also attend the event. “Speakers will include Botlogile Tshireletso and other MPs,” he said. President Ian Khama is scheduled to headline a ‘star rally’ in Molale’s honour on the eve of the by-election on August 14.
