Miss Botswana media director, Tshepo Maphanyane said young designers will be given an opportunity to showcase their designs during Miss Botswana pageant and fashion shows.

“Through engaging young fashion designers, we believe that Miss Botswana can assist in developing our textile industry as young designers will be given an opportunity to showcase their designs,” she said. Maphanayane said announcements on how designers can be part of Miss Botswana pageant are yet to be confirmed.

Models will undergo training on a number of programmes, which will enable them to participate fully in the process of social and economic development.

She said that this year’s edition is a build-up to next year’s 50th anniversary for the pageant.

The first edition of Miss Botswana auditions was held this past weekend in Francistown. The second and last auditions will be held in Gaborone on August 1 and 2.
